Now 115 pipped to the top of the compilation album charts by Barbie
The latest edition of the Now That’s What I Call Music collection has been prevented from reaching the top of the compilation album charts by the soundtrack to the hugely successful Barbie film that has recently hit the cinemas around the country. Normally a new compilation from the Now series would automatically hit the top spot in its first week of release, but it was clear from the popularity of the iconic pink doll’s film that fans had been eager to stream the songs from the soundtrack in their droves, thus keeping Now 115 at number 2. It’s only the second time in its history that a Now album has failed to make the top spot. Now 4 peaked at No.2 in 1984. But Now 115 is the first one not to make No.1 (yet) since the introduction of the compilation album chart in 1989.
